Scottish Cup 2nd Round
East Kilbride v Forfarshire played at Torrance House, East Kilbride Sunday 5th June 2011
East Kilbride won by 90 runs

East Kilbride entertained National Premier League pace setters Forfarshire in the second round of the Scottish cup. The visitors, unbeaten in the league this season the clear favourites .On winning the toss the Forfarshire skipper asked East Kilbride to bat first and the after the first ball was bowled it was clear why. Peter Bocock dismissed first ball of the match. Stewart Kampman then strolled out to continue his transition to a high quality batsman, and he supported Harminjat Singh taking the score past 75 in the first 15 overs. Kampman fell for 31, and new batsman Craig Smith continued the supporting role making 29. Singh continued with his controlled stroke play and when he was adjudged leg before his score was 102 from 98 balls. A potentially match winning century. A late order collapse followed and the final total was 226 all out. The home team not using the full compliment of overs, and feeling like they should have maybe got another 30.

Kampman then opened the bowling to the Forfarshire captain, and he bowled well, Some aggresive batting was then curtailed as Smith stood up to the stumps to build some pressure. The game was evenly poised. With Forfarshire approaching 50 for no loss. Then EK captain Umair Saeed broke the opening partnership removing the the opposing captain for 32. Tom Richards then continued his recent excellent form picking up another wicket, and Ross Lyons came on to bowl some spin. Wickets continued to fall and Lyons finished with 4 high quality wickets for only 19 runs. When Kampman, and Shaeed Mahmood had chipped in with a wicket apiece Forfarshire were rocked. Saeed then brought himself back on, and was rewarded when Smith took a stunning stumping of his bowling to remove the opposition number 11 and leave them all out for 130.

A stunning victory by 90 runs for the underdogs, who played some high class cricket. With Singh scoring a century and Lyons getting 4-19, both potential man of the match performances, it was decided that on the day, the award would go to the whole team. They all played there part in a wonderful team performance
