West Lothian won the toss and elected to bat on a glorious summers day at Torrance House. Stewart Kampman opened the bowling and bowled a tidy line and length and set the standard. His opening partner was Tom Richards, who bowled a fine spell, ripping out the unbeaten league leaders top order. He finished with 4 wickets for 17 runs off his 10 overs. Skipper Harry Singh chipped in a wicket in a 5 over spell, and then it was left to the spinners to do the rest. Ross Lyons finished with 1 for 21 of his 10 and Shiraz Khalid took 2 for 25 off his 10. Shah Mahmood also took 2 for 25, as an impressive bowling performance saw West Lothian dismissed for 130 in 47 overs. The standout innings being a high class and unbeaten 72 from the West Lothian professional Krueger Van Wyk.
In reply East Kilbride got of to a strong start, with Ross Lyons contributing a run a ball 21. He was supported by Alistair Dalgleish, in a strong opening partnership of 36. Two quick wickets brought Shiraz Khalid and Peter Bocock to the crease, and they provided some entertainment for the crowd. Khalid finished unbeaten on 45 and Bocock was unbeaten on 43 as the East Kilbride team romped home in only 22 overs.
This was an uplifting performance that reversed the previous three losses. It moved the team up to sixth in the table, and helps in the push to get a top four finish. Next week the team visit Weirs, who are title contenders.
