EK lost by 3 Wickets

East Kilbride Cricket club travelled across the bridge to Fife this week to play Freuchie. EK captain Umair Saeed won the toss and asked home team to bowl first on a wicket which looked like hard on top but will break or prove difficult in the later part of the day.

East Kilbride didn’t have a bright start opener Joel Richardson went cheaply and then it was shortly followed by a run out which dented EK badly.Ek lost wickets at regular intervals against tight bowling by the home team. The only batsman who got a decent total under the belt was Harmanjit Singh who was not out in the end for 50 odd runs as he lost all the partners.Ek was bowled out for 147.

147 on that wicket are difficult to get but key is line and length, these were the words by captain and that proved right. Freuchie got to a best possible start as the Pro Junaid Mahsood smashed the ball into every part of the ground scoring quick fire 60, spin was introduced at both ends as early as 13th over, there Pro got out immediately to Shahid Mahmood. Both spinners blocked the runs and the result of this was wickets, Sheraz got 3 wickets in the end and Shahid Mahmood the senior pro got 2. Captain Umair Saeed got 2 from the other end and at one point Freuchie was 80 odd for 7, some decisions went in there favour otherwise it would have been a different story. EK in the end lost by 3 wickets in 43rd over.

Bad luck for EK this week, but the good part was boys got stuck in and never lost hope. A bit of hard work is required in some areas where the boys will focus now and come out even stronger.
