East Kilbride travelled to Prestwick for their second league game of the season. East Kilbride lost the toss and were asked to field.
The travelling side started brightly picking up the 2 Prestwick openers quickly and for not many runs on the board. Hafeez Muthair, newly recruited left arm spinner, bowling very tightly and building pressure throughout his spell is showing he can be a danger to batsmen at this level. However, a serious of easily dropped chances saw Fraser Macdonald score his first 100 of the season and boosting the Prestwick total to a challenging 243 from their allotted 50 overs.
EK again starting promisingly as the ball was coming off the opening pairs bats nicely. It wasn’t to be though as clusters of wickets fell at key moments throughout the innings. A solid partnership built with Moneeb Iqbal and Stewart Kampman to give the visitors some hope, Kampman and Iqbal falling shortly after one and other trying to force the issue back onto Prestwick. Another loss, however still early in the season with 3 other teams on 0 wins and 2 losses, A home win this coming Saturday to Clydesdale would see EK jump back into the pack.
