A sunny Shawholm hosted, once again, a tightly contested match between East Kilbride CC and Poloc CC. This time in the Citylets Scottish Cup, round of 32.

East Kilbride CC lost the toss and was put in to field in what was a reduced overs match, due to the wet pitch(38 overs). Opening bowlers Umair Khan and Stewart Kampman initiated the innings with pressure at both ends. Stewart taking 3 magnificent wickets of the top 3. Then a partnership started between both overseas players from Poloc CC. Things started to become uneasy as the batsmen started to open up until Imran Mughal made the breakthrough taking his only wicket of the innings. This allowed Saleem Sabir and Moneeb Iqbal to capitalise and clean up the tail leaving Poloc CC 121 all out. A dominating performance.

East Kilbride CC continued their momentum with a good partnership between Imran Mughal and Gavin Meikle. Gavin fell for 21 and then subsequently Imran for 44. Adil Hussain remained and anchored the innings with 31. Despite the end being on the horizon, a collapse of 5 wickets left us 12 runs remaining with 3 wickets left. This was no bother for new boy Sam Cole who finished off the innings with a stylish cover drive.

A great victory against a team in the higher premier division, underlining that East Kilbride CC mean business this season.
The team will progress to the round of 16 where they will face RH Corstorphine CC or Stoneywood Dyce CC.
