Wednesday hosted an entertaining game in the Mculloch Cup game between East Kilbride and Uddingston at Torrance House.
Uddingston won the toss and elected to bat on a very hard and very flat surface (foreshadowing).
Opening the batting Mo Awais and Gavin Bradley had a brilliant start going at 10 an over. Using the short eastern boundary to its full advantage. Their destruction continued when Gaurav Rajmohan came on to bowl until he trapped Gavin Bradley(34) LBW. However the trend of boundaries did not stop. Imran Mughal managed to get the Uddingston amateur out, which brought Ross Lyons in to bat. A great partnership between Lyons and Awais accelerated the score until Joshua Johnston took the wicket of Lyons(41) and then subsequently took the wicket of Adil Raza (4). Awais accelerated his innings scoring his last 50 off 13 balls.
Uddingston 225 for 4(20).
The East Kilbride side knew the challenge ahead and wanted to take the opportunity to prove to Uddingston that they are not an ordinary first division side.
I Mughal and A Hussain lost their wickets early however, Qasim Sheikh was enjoying a nice East Kilbride road reaching 76(45) before being stumped off Lyons. He was entertained with nice cameos by Moneeb(15), Gavin(14) and Umair(17*). A brilliant innings by Qasim which allowed East Kilbride to reach 160.
EKCC 160 for 9 (20)
Uddingston won by 65 runs
There are many positives to take from Wednesdays match for East Kilbride as the 1st XI look to work towards their match against Irvine on Saturday.
