On Saturday East Kilbride travelled to Renfrew to keep their promotion hopes alive.

East Kilbride won the toss and put the home side in to bat. A solid start from the 2 Renfrew youngsters, looked fairly comfortable. Spinner Saleem Sabir managed to make the breakthrough, however, Renfrew looked to keep building handy partnerships. The next wicket didn’t fall for another 86 runs, the home side sitting on 116-2. Wickets started tumbling at regular intervals for EK as Sabir and captain Moneeb Iqbal tore through the middle and lower order, the next 6 wickets falling for only 74. Renfrew finishing on a respectable 204-8.

East Kilbride opener Imran Mughal came out in his usual fiery fashion, striking 41 off not many balls. A stunning display of careful batting from Qasim Sheikh and skipper Moneeb Iqbal steering the traveling EK side to near victory. Moneeb finishing on a well made 56, unfortunately holing out. Gavin Meikle joining Sheikh at the crease, confidently stroking the ball about and taking East Kilbride home. 1 more victory should seal the deal for promotion.
