East Kilbride travelled to Weirs on Saturday. They lost the toss and the home side decided they were going to bat on a very dry and dusty looking wicket.

It was a fairly evenly matched first half due to the fact EK did not show their previously very disciplined approach in the bowling department, giving away 53 extras. It was definitely a pitch made for spinners as it was turning square from the off. Captain Moneeb Iqbal picking up 3 wickets and Saleem Sabir 3 along with him. Umair Khan the only seamer to get a look in also with 3 wickets. In the end Weirs managed to struggle up to 181, what should have been only 128 minus the extra runs given. A decent display in the field holding the home side under 200.

Imran Mughal seems to be making a habit of reaching huge mile stones this year, his booming 81 on Saturday took him by 1000 club runs. Still with just under half the season to go he may break a few records along the way. Decent partnerships with Qasim Sheikh and Skipper Moneeb Iqbal took the travelling side within touching distance. However, wickets tumbled with a late en slaught from Weirs. Josh Johnston finally found some form with the bat though and with some lusty blows finished the game confidently, 31 not out off just 19 balls.
