Saturday was another glorious day at Torrance house. East Kilbride played host to Renfrew for a tasty mid table affair, EK looking to pressure the leaders above.

East Kilbride had won the toss and decided to have a bat. Openers Imran Mughal and Adil Hussain were off to an explosive start as always, Imran leaving a trail of boundaries in his wake. A sharp run out was the end of the quick but effective onslaught from Imran. A well crafted 53 from Qasim Sheikh and lovely 45 from captain Moneeb Iqbal laid the platform for a huge total. Adil Hussain batted most of the innings for a brilliant 80, running out of legs to get him to the 3 figures. Umair Khan is making a habit of hitting massive 6s and 3 in the final over of the game took East Kilbride to a great, but probably less that could have been, 265-5.

After being fed and watered during the lunch break East Kilbride started brightly. However, with thunder and lightening looming the spinners ran through their overs to get them by the minimum 20 overs required. All rounder Josh Johnston bowling very tightly to stop any build of pressure on his colleagues. Saleem Sabir the crafty spinner made a slight breakthrough taking the game by the scruff of the neck. East Kilbride lost their edge and slightly the hold of the game as Renfrew fought back hitting the opener Umair Khan to all parts (mainly cow corner). Josh Johnston returned for a second bite of the cherry picking up 2 key wickets and thus returning the game to EK. Gaurav Rajmohan, youngster, also picking up 2 key wickets at a tough part in the game. East Kilbride could relax as Renfrew fell 27 runs short. 25 points in the bag keeping in the hunt. EK travel to league leaders Kelburne in the coming week to see what they’re really made of.
