Saturday East Kilbride travelled to Drumpellier. All forecast was showing that not one ball would have been bowled but the game started in what could have been the warmest day of the year so far.
East Kilbride won the toss and put the home side into bat. A familiar sight for the away side had wickets tumbling from the off, the first 3 going for not very many. However, disciplined bowling was not on show and the extras were second top scorer for the home side with only overseas player R Marais hanging around for a well built 54. Tight spells from all rounder Josh Johnston and new youngster Sam Cole clawed the game back into East Kilbride’s stronghold. Sam with figures of 7 overs 3 wickets for just 12 runs, brilliant bowling from the young lad had the gallery in front of the clubhouse whispering to find out his name. Drumpellier finishing on 156 all out.
East Kilbride clubber Imran Mughal came out swatting the opening bowlers to all parts, in turn putting the travelling side far ahead of any Duckworth Lewis threat. However, the heavens opened and the rain did not stop. Stealing another 25 points from East Kilbride, the rain. East Kilbride are at home to Renfrew this coming week looking to pile pressure on league leaders Kelburne.
