Saturday saw the first game of the season completed for East Kilbride Cricket Club 1st XI. As a team, EKCC has many good days at Torrance House but every so often , like this Saturday, East Kilbride can suffer poor losses with lack of preparation.
Losing a crucial toss meant the 1st XI were put into bat, on a slow and soft wicket. Wickets fell in bunches, resulting in East Kilbride being bowled out for 52.
Weirs went in to bat confident of chasing the total down with ease, however, they lost 4 wickets mainly thanks to 3 scalps from Umair Khan before reaching the target in 12 overs. 52 for 4 is usually a very good position to have an opposition in-highlighting the few positives from the weekend.
This loss acts as a wake-up call for East Kilbride CC. Hopefully with the right preparation-along with slightly better weather-we can continue our hunt for promotion, starting next weekend away at Helensburgh.
