East Kilbride kept up the momentum in their title challenge with a comprehensive win against Galloway. Asked to bat first on a cloudy day proved a challenge as the ball moved off the pitch and in the air, causing a number of problems for the top order. With the Galloway opening bowlers targeting the stumps East Kilbride were reduced to 40 for 4. As in previous weeks, however the team were able to rebuild, as the lack of depth in the opposition bowling started to tell. Khalid again began to build an innings, and started to make the opposition pay for a couple of dropped catches. Skipper Saeed partnered him in a partnership of 140 which took the game away from the visitors. When Saeed departed for a well made 65, Khalid continued on in partnership with the batting talent the team have available in the lower order. He departed last man out caught on the boundary for a superb 144, leaving a target of 270. After tea, some heavy drizzle took the teams off for ten minutes and set East Kilbride a conundrum. To ensure the required overs were bowled, the spin of Alum was introduced early and yielded 2 wickets, as the team went about their business with urgency. Richards removed the Galloway numbers 3 and 4, and with Kelly instigating a run out, it was left to Saeed to remove the tail with 4 direct hits, whilst only conceding 8 runs. Galloway bowled out for 59, leaving the home team victorious by 210 runs. All the game being scored by young Harris Mahmood, in a very accurate and tidy manner. Next week East Kilbride travel to Irvine, which is always a difficult and competitive game.
