Eventually a game is played!

On thursday evening the first team travelled to Ayr to start the defence of the Rowan Cup won in 2012. Captain Harmanjit Singh lost the toss and was asked to field by his opposite number.

Stewart bowled tight and was unlucky with a few edges and aerial strokes not going to hand but did manage a maiden in his opening spell. Umair was his tight usual self picking up a wicket in his first over bowling the agressive smith who had already lived a charmed life. Tom replaced stewart but struggled to get started and was then replaced by aftab. Josh replaced Umair and looked to continue his good form from the SMRH game, he picked up the second wicket when Borland holed out to Umair at long on. Then the batsmen put on a partnership of 51 with a combination of agressive running putting pressure on the field and some risky shots. Tom came back into the attack to replace Josh and thought he had picked up the wicket of McElnea but the ball was dropped by smith behind the stumps. This wasn't an expensive drop as next ball he was on his way back caught behind by Smith. Stewart and Umair returned from their original ends and gave a great display of hitting the timber. Umair finishing the pick of the bowlers and Stewart picking up 2 in 2 balls.

This left EK chasing 107 to win, Ally and Money opened looking to set a platform. Ally departed in the third over with a harsh looking LBW bringin in pete at number 3. Money departed not long after with ball that took off taking the glove through to the keeper who made a smart catch. This should have brought Stewart 's$$t break' Kampman to come in at number four. As he was otherwise occupied Aftab came in to join pete and they put together a partneship of 36 before Pete was caught behind for a fluid 26. Aftab continued to pace his innings well on his was to a well crafted 43 crucial runs. After Aftab was dismissed with Stewart, Josh, Joel and Umair all were dismissed without troubling the scorers. This left Tom and Smitty to get the remaining 8 required from the last 11 deliveries. They kept their cool putting away the bad balls giving EK a two wicket win.
