After weeks of cancellation, the first team finally their first match under their belt against SMRH in a match reversed and held in Edinburgh.
SMRH got the precedings underway with an 80 run opening partnership, EK openers to make any inroads against the SMRH openers, with 5 bwolers used in the first 20 overs. Spinners were brought into the action and with Joshua Johnstons first delivery he provided EK with the breakthrough, a caught behind taken by steady hands of Pete Bocock. Cedric English proved to be as steady as always and finally gave his wicket, after a few chances, Joshua Johnston struck again and finishing with figures of 13 overs 4 wickets for 55 runs the spinners had stalled which what could have been a huge total. SMRH closed the first innings with a flurry of wickets and a few helping runs, the total sat at 207-7.
EK openers Joel Richardson and Gavin Meikle walked out to the coldest day ever on earth. Both must have been frozen as there scores reflected, Joel bowled for 4 and Gavin LBW for 4. The new addition to the EK lineup Gary Kleinvelt, must have thought he was still at home in South Africa who was caught second ball at second slip for a mere 0 zero. Money and Pete Bocock managed to steady the ship, but all failed as too many wickets had been through away too early in the game. Captain Money finished on a suspect 47 and Shah Mahmood pitched in with an easy 25. EK fell 67 short and all out for a dismal 140 from only 37 overs.
