Another win for EK at Torrance House

On saturday East Kilbride welcomed Prestwick to Torrance House in a top versus bottom league clash. Skipper Harmanjit Singh won yet another toss and given the recent rain during the week decided to invite Prestwick to bat first. EK were missing Umair Saeed and there were a number of the EK team walking wounded but delivered an excellent bowling and fielding performance. Stewart Kampman and Aftab Talpur took the new ball and both bowled well and were both unlucky not to pick up a number of wickets each, Aftab picked up 1 and Stewart was wicketless but their tight start was worth much more than it seemed on paper. The introduction of Garon Kleinveldt and Joshua Johnston saw them both pick up wickets and continue to tight bowling to restrict Prestwick to 60 for the loss of wickets at their halfway point of their innings. The Prestwick batsmen were happy to play very defensively and on a pitch the looked like 200 to 250 to be a par score they were well short of a good score. Shahid Mahmood picked up 3 quick wickets for 21 runs to eventually bowl out Prestwick for 112 with the positivity of the young Prestwick lower order showing their elder counterparts how it should have been done.

Prestwick opened the bowling with both their overseas players with contrasting bowling actions to say the least. They both picked up and early wicket each as Garon Kleinvledt and Craig Smith both fell cheaply. This brought Alastair Dalgleish and Peter Bocock to the crease with the score only on 11 with over one hundred runs required for the win. Alastair played a very disciplined innings although not scoring quickly a very important foil to the in form Peter Bocock who looked extremely comfortable and began to construct his innings striking the ball cleanly. Alastair launched a huge six into the car park which kick started his innings and from that point on he too began to pick off the Prestwick bowling finishing on 28not out. Peter finished 67 not out and had delivered an excellent innings under pressure and gave him his second successive league half century.

This saturday sees East Kilbride host Poloc in the league at Torrance House with 5 league games remaining with EK's 100% record still intact.
