5 games to go - 100% league record maintained

East Kilbride resumed league duty on saturday visting Glenpark to take on a youthful Greenock side. With the excellent weather continuing combined with the small boundaries it looked like the game would be a high scoring affair.

Captain Harmanjit Singh won the toss and given EK's recent strong form with the bat took no hesitation in deciding to bat first. Gary Kleinveldt opened the batting with Craig Smith and they got off to a flying start scoring freely and putting on 60 within the first ten overs. Craig then fell chasing a loose delivery to be caught at point. Soon after Gary fell to a sharp catch at mid on when he looked like he was comfortable and would be there all day. This meant Stewart Kampman and Peter Bocock had some rebuilding to do. Peter struck a nearly run a ball 73 which was only ended after a LBW shout was given to Peters dissappointment. The EK middle and lower order all contributed well to set Greenock a target of 278 to win.

Stewart Kampman and Tom Richards opened the bowling for EK and the Greenock opening batsmen looked like they weren't hanging around. With the score on 18 Stewart bowled the Greenock Batsmen Hempsey to end his misery and soon after Tom had his partner caught well by Craig Smith behind the stumps. Umair Saeed was then brought into the attack and took the key wicket of Ritchie Berrington who again was well caught by Craig Smith. Then it was the turn of the EK spinners Shahid Mahmood and Joshua Johnston to turn the screw and forced a comedy run out of Greenocks overseas player. Greenock collapsed from 110-4 to 130 all out which was a welcome early finish with the hot weather.

Next saturday see's EK host Prestwick at home with EK sitting top of the league with 5 games remaining to secure promotion to the premier league.
