A warm sunny afternoon at Torrance House brought the 5th consecutive win for East Kilbride.
EK lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. Prestwick didn’t have a good start losing wickets at regular intervals but one end was occupied by their Pro S Butt who after hard work was cleaned by the EK skipper miss judging a wrong one. Prestwick finished there 50 over’s with 194 for 9 wickets. Tight fielding and great bowling from seamers and spinners kept the away side under 200 on a very flat wicket and equally as quick outfield. Umair Khan bowled a tight and aggressive opening spell with Tom Richards. Ross and Josh kept the middle over’s closed for runs picking up a few wickets along with the pressure. Although the last 5 over’s tired arms and heads saw a few too many runs leaked over the boundaries.
Joel Richardson and Tom Richards opened the batting for the 2nd innings and got EK off the mark with a flyer. Tom squandered his wicket to a soft catch at mid wicket although did well to start the innings. This brought Pete to the crease to smash and plunder his way to 78 not out and keeping his form running. Joel also recorded his debut senior half century for the club. Pete and Ross were left to hit the last few runs to victory. East Kilbride successfully completes the game only 4 wickets down in the 40th over. A well earned victory for the Oyster catchers.
